Dr. Guang Gao, Founder and Chairman
Dr. Guang R. Gao is a distinguished professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware, where he is also the founder and leader of the Computer Architecture and Parallel Systems Lab (CAPSL). Dr. Gao has 250+ publications in refereed conference/workshop proceedings and journals, and has acted as program/general chair and member of the steering/program/organizing committees for numerous international conferences and workshops in his field. He has been a principal investigator for many projects funded by NSF, DOD, DARPA, DOE, and industry organizations. He has been a consultant for a number of government and industry organizations. He has elected as a Fellow for both IEEE and ACM for his contributions to architecture and compiler technology of parallel computers.
Phillippe Chambadal, Director
Philippe Chambadal has 20 years of experience in executive management for high-tech firms. Most recently, Mr. Chambadal co-founded MetaMatrix in 1998 as CEO and chairman. MetaMatrix is a market-leading vendor of enterprise information integration (EII) solutions that enable enterprises to access and manage all forms of information in a centralized platform. Previously, Mr. Chambadal was vice president and co-founder of Reuters New Media. He has also held senior management positions with Reuters Information Technology, Instinet, Reuters North America and Reuters Europe Western Region.
Ashwin Alankar, Director
Ashwin Alankar has extensive experience in financial analysis and investment management. Currently, Ashwin is a senior portfolio manager at AllianceBernstein, where he is focused on expanding the firm's reach within the multi-strategy hedge fund space. Previously, he was a principal and portfolio manager at Platinum Grove Asset Management, a large hedge fund in New York, where he was responsible for equity trading and research. Ashwin holds BS degrees in Math and Chemical Engineering and an MS in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also received a PhD in finance from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley, where he was the NASDAQ Fellow of Finance.
Nicholas Gao, Director
Nicholas Gao has in-depth legal experience in derivatives, finance and other corporate practice areas through his work at NY-based law firm Davis Polk and Wardwell and multiple large financial institutions. Currently, Mr. Gao is Managing Director at BNP Paribas, one of the largest international banks with strong positions in Europe and Asia, and a significant presence in the United States. He received his J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and holds BS and MS degrees in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
John Watts, Director
John Watts has decades of proven success in the investment industry; deep engineering, and extensive corporate and civic leadership' experience. Watts co-founded and served as Chair of the premier institutional fixed-income portfolio management firm, Fischer Francis Trees & Watts (FFTW), which pioneered the active management of analytic-based bond and currency portfolios and now manages over $50B for clients in 34 countries. As deputy to the CIO and later to the managing partner of the private bank Brown Brothers Harriman, he co-founded the firm’s pioneering advisory and analytic service in foreign exchange for global clients.
After completing an MS in applied mathematics and engineering at the University of Texas, Watts worked on engineering and strategy projects for corporate and government clients at Arthur D. Little, Inc.. He then received an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, completed course work for a Ph.D. in economics and received the Scott Award for leadership in his class. Earlier, Watts served as missile division officer on the US 7th fleet flagship and as test engineer at the Naval Weapons Lab. He serves or has served as Chair or on executive committees of 18 corporate, civic, college and global banks’ boards. In 2005 he founded and now chairs a private equity firm that advises and finances transforming technology ventures. He is a registered professional engineer.
Jeff White, Director
Jeff White has spent more than 20 years building successful businesses spanning a broad range of industries and establishing himself as a successful investor and entrepreneur. Currently a managing partner at Trestle Ventures, he is also a member of the investment committee and serves as a board member of several private companies and venture funds. He previously served as president of NaPro Bio, where he assisted in the sale of its therapeutic cancer business; led institutional venture funding efforts as CEO at RCD; acted as chairman and CEO of Sivox Partners; and created strategic partnerships as chairman and CEO of Fingerworks prior to its merger with Apple. He has also served in multiple senior management and vice president roles at Hewlett Packard and Agilent. Mr. White holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a MBA from Northeastern University.
